A Different Way to Re-Use an Avocado Seed

Most of us know that you can sprout an avocado tree from it’s seed but did you know that most of the nutrients in an avocado are in it’s seed?

The avocado seed is a rich source of antioxidants, fiber, it offers natural antibiotic and antifungal benefits, helps with digestive disorders, helps with lowering cholesterol and more. It is best to dry out, blend and add as a supplement to smoothies, soups, hot water, oatmeal and more. Keep in mind that is has a bitter taste and you might want to even it out with some sweeter food.

How do you benefit from it?

  1. Peel the skin off of the seed
  2. Dry the seed- dehydrate for about 2 hours at 145c
  3. Put the seed in a blender or grate it
  4. Place in a jar and store in dry and cool place
  5. Add as supplement to smoothies, soup, oatmeal and more
So next time you eat an avocado, don’t waste the seed 🙂

*Important note – some resources say that this is a very healthy food supplement however there has not been enough research on consumption safety. One source explains that it is ok to consume but not in large quantities.
